P for Protein
Support for Android and iOS
Questions about food logging, barcode lookup, Protein Pro, or your data? We’re here to help.
Contact us
Email us if you have a question, found a problem, or need help with food logging, barcode scanning, a widget, a subscription, or your local data.
To help us respond quickly, include your device model, Android or iOS version, app version, storefront (Google Play or App Store), and a short description of the issue. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, purchase tokens, or your full food log. Only attach screenshots or exported data when they are necessary to explain the problem.
Food search and barcode scanning
Food search is unavailable
- Check that your device is online and try the search again.
- Try a shorter or more specific food name. Product data can be missing, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable.
- If you need to log food immediately, use manual entry and verify the protein amount against the product label.
- Do not include your body weight, daily target, or food history in a support email about a lookup failure; the lookup service does not need those details.
Barcode scanning is not working
- On Android, open Settings > Apps > P for Protein > Permissions and allow Camera.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and allow P for Protein.
- Return to P for Protein, reopen the barcode scanner, and hold the code steady in good light.
- If camera access is restricted by Screen Time, parental controls, or a device policy, the device owner may need to change that restriction.
- If the scan succeeds but no product is found, check the barcode and product label, then use manual entry or food search.
Your data, export, and restore
P for Protein is local-first. Your profile, food entries, dated goals, and history are stored on the device by default and are not kept in a P for Protein account.
Moving to a new device
- On Android, eligible local app data may be included in Android backup or device-to-device transfer. Check your Android and Google backup settings.
- On iOS and Android, use Backup & Restore and the system document picker when that feature is available in your build.
- An exported JSON file can include your profile, food entries, and dated goals. It is not encrypted by P for Protein, so save and share it carefully.
- Importing a backup replaces the profile, food logs, and dated goals on that device after you confirm. It does not change Protein Pro, ads, telemetry, consent, or cached product data.
My history or target looks wrong
- Each history day keeps the target that applied on that date. Changing today’s target does not rewrite earlier days.
- Check the selected date, unit system, serving amount, and the product label before editing an entry.
- If the issue started after a restore or device transfer, compare the restored entries with your exported backup and contact support with the affected date—not your complete food history.
Widget is missing or not updating
- Open P for Protein once and confirm that your profile and today’s entries are visible.
- Remove and re-add the widget from your Android Home screen or iOS Home Screen, then open the app again.
- On Android, check that battery restrictions are not preventing updates. On iOS, check that the widget is using the intended app instance and refresh it from the Home Screen.
Protein Pro subscriptions
Protein Pro access is missing
Make sure the device is signed in to the same store account that made the purchase. On iOS, open P for Protein Settings and choose Restore purchases when shown. On Android, reopen the app while Google Play is available; the app rechecks the Google Play entitlement at startup and during foreground refresh. If access is still missing, email support with the purchase date, storefront, and plan shown in your store history. Do not send your account password, payment-card number, or purchase token.
Cancel or manage a subscription
Subscriptions are managed by the store where you purchased them. Use Apple Account subscription settings for App Store purchases or Google Play subscription settings for Google Play purchases. Deleting P for Protein does not cancel an active subscription.
Refund request
Apple or Google Play handles store billing and most refund requests. Use the purchase support tools for the store where you paid. We can help identify the P for Protein plan, but we cannot override the store’s billing or refund decision.
Privacy questions
Your local profile and food log are not available to us through an account. For a privacy question, deletion request, or question about food-lookup, advertising, analytics, or billing data, contact pod27.apps@gmail.com.
