P for Protein Privacy Policy

P for Protein ("P for Protein," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile app for Android and iOS. It helps you estimate a daily protein target, record food and protein amounts, review history, search a food database, scan product barcodes, and use platform features such as widgets and data transfer. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app and its related services process, why they process it, and the choices available to you.

2. Information stored on your device

When you use P for Protein, you may create or import:

• your unit preference, body weight, goal, activity level, gender selection, and daily protein target;
• dated food entries, food names, amounts, serving descriptions, protein amounts, product metadata, and entry identifiers;
• dated daily summaries and the target that applied on each date;
• local app preferences, onboarding state, widget state, and consent-related state; and
• a local Protein Pro entitlement cache used to keep the interface responsive between store checks.

This information may be health-related or sensitive in some jurisdictions because it can reveal information about weight, diet, or nutrition. It is used to provide the app features you request and is not automatically uploaded to P for Protein servers. You can edit or delete entries in the app, clear app data in Android settings, or remove the app. Copies in Android backup, device transfer, or a file you exported are controlled by the destination and its settings.

Camera and barcode scanning

Barcode scanning is optional. On Android, the app uses the camera and on-device barcode recognition. On iOS, it uses the camera and native barcode scanning. Camera frames are used for the active scan and are not uploaded by P for Protein. If you choose to look up a detected barcode, the barcode value is sent to the food-lookup service. You can deny or later revoke camera permission and continue with manual entry or other available methods.

Food search and lookup

When you search for a food or request a barcode lookup, P for Protein sends the search text or barcode to the related food-lookup service over HTTPS and receives product and nutrition information. The service may process normal network and request metadata, such as IP address, request time, user-agent, endpoint, response status, and rate-limiting information, to operate and secure the service. The service request does not include your profile, daily target, food history, or store purchase information.

3. Analytics and crash diagnostics

Release builds for Android and iOS may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics when the platform configuration is present. These services can process technical information such as app version, operating-system and device information, anonymous or pseudonymous app-instance identifiers, event timestamps, screen names, and crash or diagnostic information.

P for Protein is designed to send only coarse product events, such as onboarding progress, screens visited, food-entry method, lookup outcome, widget interactions, paywall interactions, ad outcome, and general Protein Pro entitlement state. We do not intentionally send food names, barcodes, search text, body weight, activity level, protein targets, food amounts, purchase tokens, or the contents of your food log to Firebase. Google describes its handling of Firebase service data in the Firebase privacy information.

4. Advertising and consent

The free version may display banner and occasional interstitial advertisements through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Protein Pro is intended to remove those advertisements while the entitlement is active. Depending on your device, location, consent choices, and ad-serving mode, AdMob and its service providers may process information such as IP address, advertising or app-instance identifiers, device and app information, approximate location derived from IP address, ad requests, and ad interaction information.

Where required, P for Protein uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present consent choices and provide a privacy-options entry point. You can manage available choices through the in-app privacy options entry point when it is shown and through your device or Google advertising settings. Relevant information is available in Google's Privacy Policy and Google's AdMob privacy guidance. Pre-release builds may use test advertisements.

5. App Store and Google Play subscriptions

Protein Pro may be offered through recurring subscriptions on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google processes payment details, billing identity, subscription status, purchase confirmation, cancellation, and refunds. P for Protein does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

P for Protein receives the minimum store entitlement state needed to determine whether Protein Pro is active, pending, or no longer active, and stores a local cache for continuity. Apple subscriptions are managed through the Apple Account used for the purchase; Google Play subscriptions are managed through the Google Account used for the purchase. Store entitlements are platform-specific and are not automatically shared between Apple and Google.

6. Backups, export, and restore

On Android, eligible local app data may be copied by Android backup or device-to-device transfer. On iOS and Android, the app may provide user-initiated JSON export and import through the system document picker when that feature is available. An export can contain your profile, dated food entries, and dated goals. It does not contain Protein Pro purchase tokens, ad state, telemetry state, consent state, or cached product data.

Exported files are not encrypted by P for Protein. Save them only to a destination you trust. If you share or upload a file, the service you choose controls its copy, retention, and sharing settings. Import can replace the profile, food logs, and history on the device after you confirm the operation.

7. How we use information

We use information to:

• calculate and display protein targets, food logs, history, summaries, and widgets;
• perform a food search or barcode lookup that you request;
• process, restore, and display App Store or Google Play entitlement state;
• display ads when the free version, consent state, and applicable law allow it;
• measure reliability and diagnose crashes where the relevant service is enabled;
• prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, secure the lookup service, and comply with law; and
• respond to support requests.

We do not sell your P for Protein profile or food log and do not use your food log to target advertisements. Third-party providers may independently process the technical information needed to provide their services under their own policies and terms.

8. Legal bases, sharing, and international transfers

Depending on your location and the processing involved, we rely on performance of a contract or your request for app functionality, consent where required, legitimate interests in security and reliability, and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

We may share information with service providers that help operate P for Protein, including Apple and Google for distribution and billing, Google Mobile Ads and its consent tools for advertising, Firebase for analytics and crash diagnostics when enabled, and the hosting, network, database, and security providers used for food lookup. We require service providers to protect information consistently with this policy and to process it only for the disclosed service purposes, subject to their own applicable policies and terms. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer. Service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, using safeguards required by applicable law.

9. Retention and your choices

Local profile and food-log data remain on your device until you delete entries, clear app data, uninstall the app, or replace the data through an import or restore operation. Android backup copies, exported files, App Store or Google Play service data, Firebase data, lookup logs, and support emails follow the retention and deletion controls of the relevant platform or service.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Much of the information P for Protein stores is local to your device, so we may not be able to identify or retrieve it remotely. Contact pod27.apps@gmail.com for questions or requests. 10. Children

P for Protein is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in the child's jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or knowingly target the app to children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

11. Security and changes

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information involved, including platform storage controls and HTTPS for the production food-lookup service. No device, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, services, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version at the URL linked from P for Protein and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or another reasonable channel.

P for Protein End User License Agreement (EULA) & Terms of Use

This End User License Agreement ("EULA") and these Terms of Use govern your use of P for Protein and related services on Android and iOS. The app is licensed, not sold. By installing, accessing, or using the app, you agree to this EULA and these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. EULA license grant and store terms

Subject to this EULA, the provider grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use P for Protein on devices that you own or control, solely for lawful personal use. You may not copy, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute, reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or create derivative works from the app, except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

P for Protein may be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Unless we provide a separate custom end-user license agreement for P for Protein, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the Apple version of the app. For the Android version, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and applicable Google Play Developer Program policies. We have not provided a separate custom EULA for Google Play.

Apple, Google, and their applicable terms govern the store download, payment, subscription, refund, and platform services. If you obtained P for Protein through Apple's App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA and may enforce it against you as a beneficiary. Apple is not responsible for maintenance, support, warranty, or claims relating to P for Protein, except as required by applicable law.

2. What P for Protein does

P for Protein is a personal protein-tracking tool. It can help you record food, estimate a daily protein target from information you provide, show progress and history, search for product information by name or barcode, and—when supported by your device—provide a home-screen widget. The app does not require an account. Feature availability may depend on your device, operating system, permissions, network, app store, consent, or service availability.

3. Health and nutrition responsibility

You are responsible for considering allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, pregnancy, age, medication, kidney or liver conditions, eating-disorder history, athletic requirements, and any other factor that may affect your nutrition. You are responsible for checking product labels and deciding whether information shown by the app is appropriate for you.

You use P for Protein at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the provider is not responsible for illness, injury, nutritional deficiency, adverse reaction, eating-disorder effects, or any other health issue or harm arising from your reliance on the app, its calculations, its food information, or your diet or activity decisions. This does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. If you have a medical concern, serious symptom, or emergency, contact an appropriate healthcare professional or emergency service.

4. Food and nutrition information

Food lookup results use a product database derived from Open Food Facts, a collaborative food-products database. The database is available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and individual database contents are available under the Database Contents License (DbCL). See the Open Food Facts licensing guidance.

P for Protein is not affiliated with or endorsed by Open Food Facts. Lookup results may be missing, outdated, mislabeled, or incorrect. Barcode scanning and name search can fail or return a product that is not the product you consumed. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability, or suitability of any food, serving, calorie, protein, or nutrition information. The presence of a product in the app is not an endorsement.

5. Your use of the app

You agree to provide information as accurately as reasonably possible, use P for Protein only for lawful personal purposes, verify food and nutrition information before relying on it, and keep your device, operating system, store account, and backups reasonably secure. You must not bypass rate limits, harm the food-lookup service, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer, decompile, modify, redistribute, abuse, or interfere with P for Protein or its services except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

6. Permissions, backups, and data loss

Camera access is optional and is used for barcode scanning. If you deny it, you can use manual entry or other available methods. Android backup and device-to-device transfer, iOS app-group storage, and user-initiated exports can fail, become unavailable, become outdated, or be deleted by the platform or destination service. You are responsible for maintaining any backup you consider important and for checking restored information.

7. Advertising

The free version may display banner and occasional interstitial advertisements. Ad availability depends on consent, device settings, network availability, and third-party ad services. Protein Pro is intended to remove P for Protein advertisements while the entitlement is active. Pre-release builds may display test advertisements; test advertisements do not promise any particular production ad experience or revenue.

8. Protein Pro purchases

Protein Pro may be offered as monthly and yearly recurring subscriptions through Google Play Billing and Apple App Store billing. The price shown at checkout is determined by the relevant store and may vary by country, currency, taxes, or promotions. Subscriptions renew according to the selected plan and store settings unless canceled through the store.

Apple or Google processes payment, renewal, purchase confirmation, cancellation, and refunds. Store terms and refund rules apply. P for Protein may need to check the relevant store when the app starts or returns to the foreground. When a subscription expires, is refunded, revoked, or otherwise stops being active, Pro benefits end and the free ad-supported experience resumes. Apple and Google entitlements are platform-specific.

9. Intellectual property

P for Protein, its software, interface, branding, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by or licensed to the provider and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, the provider grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you control.

You retain rights in information you enter into P for Protein. You grant the provider only the limited rights reasonably needed to operate features you request, such as processing a food name or barcode lookup. The Privacy Policy above explains how information is processed.

10. Third-party services and availability

P for Protein depends on third-party services, including the Apple App Store, Google Play, Google Mobile Ads, Firebase, Android backup, iOS system services, device services, and the food-lookup service. Those services may have their own terms, policies, outages, limitations, and eligibility requirements. The provider is not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of third-party services.

We may update, suspend, restrict, or discontinue all or part of P for Protein, including a feature, food source, advertisement format, widget, or integration. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanently available operation.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, P for Protein is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, or suitability for your health, diet, training, or personal circumstances. No statement in the app creates a medical, nutritional, professional, fiduciary, or other advisory relationship between you and the provider.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the provider and its officers, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, backups, profits, revenue, goodwill, or health arising from or related to P for Protein or these Terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of the provider for claims related to P for Protein will not exceed the amount you paid for Protein Pro during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This section does not limit liability or mandatory consumer remedies that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud or intentional misconduct where prohibited.

12. Indemnity and termination

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold harmless the provider from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your unlawful use of P for Protein, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights. You may stop using the app at any time and remove it from your device. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or discontinuation of the service. Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the applicable law, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be subject to the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection rights and any right you have to bring a claim in your place of residence. Consumers in the European Economic Area retain mandatory rights provided by applicable consumer law.

14. Changes to this EULA and these Terms

We may update these Terms when P for Protein, its services, or the law changes. We will post the updated version at the URL linked from the app and update the effective date. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms, except where applicable law requires a different form of acceptance.
